A playblast of a time......

Good lord, an animatic:

Yes, well......it goes for way too freaking long. For a one minute animation, it comes in at around two and a half minutes. Lot of chipping away to do yet. But at least most of my sound and shots are how I want them to be. For the most part, I intend to work up from here, tweaking all that is necessary and so on. What fun. At any rate, I'm just happy to see something moving at this point. Where I go from here is uncertain as there are many avenues to traverse. Chris and I have been playing around with different metal textures and bump mapping them so they look all weathered and old. For a robot that's been sitting motionless in the ice for centuries, he still looks a little too young, roughly over a year old, spending that year in the rain and gaining minimal rust on his frame. Still, I like how he looks with the temporary textures now, so things can only get better from here, logically speaking that is. I'll hang in there.

With the 5 week milestone come and gone and a new milestone set, its time to really get my head down and into the piece. I've stated that i will be up to the rendering stage by the end of term. Meaning ill will need to have all the camera's locked down, texturing and animating complete and lighting finalized. Im going to record the voices and narration this week and continue to animate and texture.

Digital Art

The Sheppard was consumed by the enormous amount of work ahead of him. He wished upon a demon, whom said "Take this slave. He is a beast, and will do the work of a hundred men. But be warned, if there is no more work left to do, this beast will devour you."

Milestone One: Achievements and failures

Well here I am at the first milestone of my project. My original plan by week five was to have the music completely done and dusted, and to have blocked out the key poses in my animation. Not at all an unrealistic expectation, and yet i still failed to achieve it %100..
As far as the visual side to these failures, my reasons for this are due to the many issues we all experience with modern technology, in this particular instance, COMPUTERS!!!! ..and in this case it wasn't all of us experiencing these problems, just me... it sucks the big one!...
The good thing though is instead of sitting back with my head down, ass up, feeling sorry for myself, I decided to shift my unused creative energy into different elements of my film which AREN'T effected by the lameness of Maya 2011 to 2008 compatibility troubles.
These elements which I speak of exist within the surprisingly dynamic world of Adobe After Effects CS3.. I've been fiddling quite a bit with this gem of a program, and can whole heartedly say I am extremely happy with the creations I have produced at the other end of it.
(I will be posting some screenshots very soon of my AE work, and Maya work now my computer is finally fixed, and a sound bite of the music)
As for the music component of my major, not much to say really, it's almost done, just need to finish the bridge and chorus vocals and do some minor sound mixing and its done P.S. I am also extremely happy with how my vision, sonically and visually has come to life so far, and i feel the small amount of visuals that i have done complement the music beautifully and vice versa.

week 5 milestone

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ2BKe0gRlg is the link to my current playblast.
The music has been completeed and the sound scape is almost done. All but the first camera and the hand enter shot are locked down. I need to make them a bit more dynamic. All of the animation is at its first pass. The voice overs where not achieved but i aim to get them recorded next week.
